Knit Two

Knit Two Knit Two by Kate Jacobs

My review

rating: 2 of 5 stars

Knit Two is the follow up book to The Friday Night Knitting Club which I recall liking when I read it a few years ago. Unfortunately, it took a good 75 pages before this one got interesting and even then, it was still exceptionally light (I don’t seem to like chick-lit much anymore).

Knit Two brings back all of the women from The Friday Night Knitting Club five years later. Unlike the first book, there are fewer references to knitting in this one and without the key character of Georgia Walker, there seems to be less holding it together.

The story is somewhat predictable but sweet at times. Dakota is now a student at NYU trying to figure out what she wants to do with her life, battling with her dreams and her father’s ideas for her; Anita is planning her wedding and searching for her long lost sister; Peri is running the knitting store and making a name for herself with her handbags; Catherine is trying to find herself while running her own business; KC is now a lawyer and working at her old publishing company; Lucie has become a successful film-maker and mother; and Darwin gives birth to twins. Throw in that half the group winds up in Italy half way through the story and you have a book.

Makes for a decent beach style read if you’ve read the first book, but don’t hope for anything more.
