of food and books

If you haven’t figured this out yet, I love cooking and I love reading. So of course, this new book “Born Round: The Secret History of a Full-Time Eater” is on my list of books to read.

Frank Bruni is the food critic of the NY Times (was I guess, he’s starting a new job in a month) and his new book was the reviewed in this Sunday’s NY Times. While I’m not a huge fan of reading restaurant criticisms, if a critic can write well, their books tend to be good. I loved reading all of Ruth Reich’s books – Tender at the Bone, Comfort me with Apples and Garlic and Sapphires.

So while I don’t know anything about Frank Bruni, his new book has made it onto my list of books to read.  The fact that this book also talks about the battle between eating and weight that I’ve faced my whole life and the relationships that we have with food completely grabs me. Not surprisingly, the NY Times published this excerpt in the Sunday magazine.
